Church of the Blue Ridge is made up of people just like you. We are ordinary folks just living our lives in the best way we know how. And that way is under the guidance of Jesus Christ. We are grateful for his love and presence in our lives and we desire to share his love with others.
When we gather on Sunday mornings it feels a bit like a mini "family reunion." Everyone is so happy to be together. Our focus is on transformation as we worship God by singing, sharing, praying and listening to God's message for us. We try to have a fellowship meal together about once a month... but sometimes they are even more frequent, with almost any occasion being a reason to enjoy good cooking and great company!
We are a very Mission's oriented group of people. Several of our members work for Mission Organizations, supporting missionaries all over the globe.
Many of us have gone and continue to go on short term mission trips to other countries.
We are also very involved locally in meeting needs in the Rockfish Valley. Our Food ministry has been very busy lately helping families who are going through rough financial times. They also just collected school supplies and brought them over for Nelson County school kids who may need them. CBR also runs a Daycare and Afton Christain School, and has recently started a Bible Institute for teens and adults called: ACTS 29. (Afton Christian Training School). In an effort to further meet the needs of local families we have also revved up and expanded our after-school program with registration open to all school kids in the community.
You will find a mixture of ages here from young families with young children on up to people who are of retirement age. You will also find people with a diversity of backgrounds, interests, gifts, talents and passions.
This fall we are once again pleased to have Awana clubs on Wednesday nights for age 3 through 8th grade. On Sunday evenings we have a club for teens of high school age.
No matter what your age, interests, or background...and wherever you are in your own spiritual journey we hope you will find a home here with us.
