Celebrating America's Heritage with Fantastic Fireworks...
You may be thinking,"How are fireworks a ministry?" For the past several years now Church of the Blue Ridge has sponsored a time of music, food, and fireworks...spectacular fireworks that keep getting more and more spectacular every year on the evening before the 4th of July. This is an opportunity for the whole community to come together in a spirit of thankfulness for our country and our freedom and for those in our armed forces past and present who have given their all to preserve that safety and freedom. People bring their blankets and their lawn chairs and settle in for an evening with their family members, friends and neighbors enjoying a relaxing time together as the kids dance along to the music, eat lots of hot dogs and homemade strawberry ice cream and wait for the sky to grow dark so the fireworks can begin.
The past couple of years we asked for the community to come together to help to feed the hungry by bringing canned goods as an "entrance fee". The response was overwhelming! This food has been distributed to many needy families in our area.
On this night we celebrate our freedoms both as Christians and as American citizens. We lift up the name of Jesus, celebrate our nation, and light up the night sky as symbol of our gratitude.
If you have never made it to this event we hope you will make every effort to be with us this coming July 3rd. We know you will not be disappointed! (Check out the July 3rd photos to get a "picture" of what this wonderful community event is all about.
